Privacy policy
Last updated 28 September 2026.
GovJobs GTA is operated from Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what we collect and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we collect
- Your email address and password, so you can sign in and we can send you alerts. Passwords are stored hashed; we never see them.
- Your alert profiles — the job categories, locations and employers you asked to hear about.
- Your consent record — which permissions you gave, when, from what page, and the IP address you gave them from. Canadian anti-spam law requires us to be able to prove you asked for email, so we keep this.
- A record of which jobs we have emailed you, so we never send you the same posting twice.
- Basic email delivery events from our email provider: delivered, opened, clicked, bounced, marked as spam.
- Your last job search, when you are not signed in, in a cookie in your browser, so the home page and job list open with it already applied. It holds only the search words and filters, is not stored on our servers, and is forgotten when you press Clear.
- A record of each job you share using the share button on a job: which job, when, which option you used (email, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, copy link, SMS or WhatsApp), the page you shared from, your IP address and browser, and your account email if you are signed in. If you share by email, the form also asks for your email address and the address you are sending to, and we keep both. We never email either address because of a share, and we never add them to any mailing list; your own email app sends the message, not us. For other options we do not learn who received the link.
- Visit statistics from Google Analytics on the public job pages: which pages are viewed, roughly where from, on what kind of device, and how visitors arrived. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. It does not run on sign-in, account, alert, preference or unsubscribe pages.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect or store salary information about you. Salary figures on sunshineliststats.com come from Ontario's public disclosure and are held there, not here.
- We do not ask for your résumé, employment history, date of birth or any government identifier.
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell your browsing behaviour. Google Analytics is used only to count and understand visits, not for advertising.
Why we collect it
To run the service you asked for: matching public-sector job postings to your stated interests and emailing them to you.
Who we share it with
Our email provider, Resend, processes your address in order to deliver messages. Our hosting provider, myASP.NET, stores the database. Google receives visit statistics through Google Analytics (opt out with Google's browser add-on, or block cookies for this site). These providers may store and process your information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of that country. We do not otherwise share your information.
The one exception is a choice you make yourself. If, and only if, you tick "let employers and recruiters contact me about relevant roles" in your preferences, we may share your details with employers and recruiters. This is a separate, unticked-by-default permission. Turning it off stops it, and turning it off is one click.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Records of jobs shared while signed in are deleted with your account; records of other shares, including an address someone typed to send you a job, are deleted on request to the contact address below. Consent records are kept for three years after your last consent event, which is what Canadian anti-spam law expects of us.
Your rights
- See it — download everything we hold about you as a JSON file, including every job we have emailed you.
- Delete it — delete your account from the same page. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Stop the email — every message has a one-click unsubscribe link, honoured immediately. You do not need to sign in.
Job postings
Job postings on this site are collected from the public careers pages of the employers listed. We show a summary and link to the employer's own posting; we never accept applications on their behalf, and applying always happens on their site under their terms. We show when each posting was last seen so you can judge whether it is current. If you are an employer and would like your postings removed, or would prefer to give us a feed, email us and we will act on it.
